How the metrics are calculated
- Revenue = payout per sale × number of sales. If payouts vary, enter total revenue from your affiliate network or tracker.
- Profit = revenue − spend.
- ROI = profit ÷ spend × 100%. An ROI of 0% means you got your money back and earned nothing on top.
- CPA = spend ÷ sales. What one sale or deposit cost you.
- CPL = spend ÷ leads. What one sign-up or form fill cost you.
- CPC = spend ÷ clicks. The price of one click.
- EPC = revenue ÷ clicks. What one click earns. If EPC is above CPC, the source makes money.
- CR click → lead = leads ÷ clicks × 100%. Shows how well the landing page works.
- CR lead → sale = sales ÷ leads × 100%. Shows lead quality and how the offer converts.
- CTR = clicks ÷ impressions × 100%. Shows how well the creative grabs attention.
- CPM = spend ÷ impressions × 1,000. The price of a thousand impressions.
The verdict under the result is based on ROI. At 0% and above the source pays off. Between −30% and 0% it is close to break-even and worth tuning. Below −30% it is losing money.
How Traffic Howl tracks this
In the Traffic Howl dashboard these numbers come in without manual entry. Every click on a channel link gets its own click_id. Your site or tracker sends a postback with the sign-up or sale and the payout. The dashboard puts spend, revenue, CPA, EPC and ROI together for every channel, campaign and day. FAQ
How is ROI different from ROAS?
ROI measures profit: (revenue − spend) ÷ spend. ROAS measures total revenue: revenue ÷ spend. At a ROAS of 100%, ROI is 0%, meaning you broke even.
What goes into spend for organic traffic?
Everything the source cost for the period: channels and contractor fees, content, accounts. Then organic ROI can be compared with paid ads.
Why do some fields show a dash?
The metric can't be calculated without the data it needs. For example, CTR and CPM need impressions, and CR lead → sale needs at least one lead.
